When making a loop, the initial render time will be slower while
the server generates the images. However, subsequent "Update Plot"
requests should be fast since existing frames in the animation will
not need to be regenerated.

ASCAT details: Passes within 6 hours of the satellite image will be
displayed (if set to "On" in the Display Settings menu in the lower-
left portion of this page). On color-enhanced images, red barbs
indicate locations where the ASCAT quality flags were non-zero meaning
there could be errors in speed or direction at these locations.

Don't forget to try out the Measure tool in the left column to see
how far a feature is from your point of interest! (non-loop mode only)

This site is designed to give creativity and control to the forecaster so that imagery is weather feature-based rather than relying on predefined geographic maps. Weather models available on the site include the ECMWF, GFS, HRRR, NAM, HWRF, and HMON. The interface allows users to create point soundings, cross sections, multiple field overlays, etc. Satellite data from GOES 16 also is provided in an interface that allows users to zoom in anywhere. During hurricane season, the TC Forecast Guidance section provides ensemble forecasts from the GFS and ECMWF. This guidance is useful for analyzing the range of possibilities for TC track and intensity in the long-range portion of the forecast.
